Who can be a member?

We have 3 kinds of membership:

National/Regional Member
Individual Member
Associate Member

National/Regional Member

The Membership of the Federation shall be open to National/Regional Sports Medicine Association of Asian countries/Asian region, which agree to the aims and objects of the Federation and are willing to abide by the rules.

The Council of Delegates shall admit to membership, the National/Regional Associations (not more than one from each country/region) that are recognized, as representing the interests of Sports Medicine in each country/region.

Individual Member

The Executive Committee may admit for individual membership sports doctor, scientist and researcher who have attended at least one of the Federation's Scientific Congresses or its approved Course in sports medicine or sports sciences. The qualification of a Member would be either a Medical Doctor, or having a recognized academic qualification in Sports Sciences or Related Disciplines, from a recognized Institution at Post-graduate level.

Associate Member

The Executive Committee may admit for Associate Membership, Paramedical personnel, Physiotherapists, Allied Health care professionals, Coaches, Trainers, Sports organizers or other persons of related fields of Sports Medicine.

How can you be a member?


National/Regional membership: Guidelines

The Applicant National/Regional Association must submit for consideration by the Executive Committee, the following documents before the petition can be presented to the Council of Delegates:

Application in writing signed by the President and the Secretary General of the National/Regional Association.

Copy of the Statutes of the Association.

List of officers of the Association with their titles.

Total number of members in each category of membership.

Letter of recommendation attesting the fact that the applicant Association is the representative Sports Medicine organization in that country/region from one of he following bodies: National/Regional Medical Association, National/Regional Olympic Committee.

"National association membership fee is $100 per year which should be submitted to AFSM banking account or paid directly by cash during AFSM annual congress. "

Individual and associate membership: Guidelines

There are two ways:
You can apply personally by sending the following documents:

Filled application form

Copy of your qualification documents

Payment of the annual subscription fee of US $30 per year or US $ 100 every four years.You can apply through your National/ Regional sports medicine association/federation.

Instructions

A template agreement between FIMS and the national sports medicine association / federation will be drawn up through a word document.

Two blank excel spreadsheets have to be completed with details of each    individual member in the national association and one with details of national    association itself.

The agreement template has to be completed and signed by the national    association and sent to AFSM Secretariat office for further processing. National    association has to indicate the number of blocks required to purchase for the    next calendar year. During the year it is possible to purchase further blocks.

Individual member details database have to be completed with as much details   of each individual preferably by the secretary of the association the most   important of which is the name, surname, and correct email address. Any   member without a valid email address will not be able to make use of the   membership.

National association details database should be completed by the secretary of    national association . All the columns are compulsory except those marked as    office use. Once the spreadsheet is complete (accuracy is the responsibility of    the National Association), this spreadsheet must be sent by email to AFSM    Secretariat office at secretariat@afsm.info for processing, and sending to FIMS    for registering the Association on the FIMS Website.

Each applicant will pay only US$5 per year or US$20 for a period of four years to    the national association. The national association should submit the whole    membership fees to FIMS account at ………..and proof of payment will be sent to    AFSM Secretariat. Once confirmation of payment has been received, details will    be uploaded on to a special secure area of the FIMS website.

The secretary of the National Association will be provided with an administrative    username and password, and will then be able to administer all the individual    member details of the Association (edit, insert and delete members and their    details).

 Each individual member will also be able to access their personal particulars for    editing purposes, using their username and password. Individual members may    also change their password. However, if this is done and the member queries    something in their individual record, the secretary will not be able to access the    record if the member does not provide her with the new password.

The responsibility of keeping the details of members up to date will become that    of the individual member, and the secretary of the National Association.
